Back in the United States, women had already begun fighting towards women's rights relating to being able to speak on political and moral issues in the 1830's. However, it was years later, in 1848 that Elizabeth Cady-Stanton was able to fully convince Lucretia Mott, Mary M'Clintock, Martha Coffin Wright, and Jane Hunt, to help organize the Seneca Falls Convention.

News of the Seneca Falls Convention spread, making its way into newspapers around the country. The convention would allow men to attend, however, they would only be able to attend on the second day.
